VALIDATION OF TESTING
Parabel USA has completed five independent, third-party Vitamin B12 tests using
the microbial method to quantify the amount present in a 100-gram sample over seasonal variations. This method has been used in previous studies to determine
Vitamin B12 quantity. Although the microbiological method is known as a reliable testing method, to understand the exact form present, Parabel has also completed a Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MSMS) method on the water lentil crop, which is a reputable and reliable method. Reports have shown that the Liquid Chromatography method is more precise and accurate than the traditional microbiological method and is able to distinguish and quantify between each of the four bioactive forms of cobalamin.
The Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS-MS) test indicated that primarily Adenosylcobalamin was present (86%) with Methylcobalamin (13%) and Hydroxycobalamin also detected in smaller amounts (1%). As shown in Figure 1, a sample of fresh Parabel’s water lentil crop, resulted with 18 micrograms of Vitamin B12, characterized by a combination of Adenosylcobalamin, Methylcobalamin, and Hydroxycobalamin.
For LENTEIN Complete, Parabel’s legacy water lentil protein powder product; the same test was conducted validating the presence of Adenosylcobalamin and Methylcobalamin at significant amounts. The values portrayed in Lab Analytical Report shown in Figure 2 are representative of a composite sample of LENTEIN® Complete, confirming bioactive forms for B12. Upon these results, Parabel has calculated the product contains high levels of Vitamin B12 at 0.53 mcg/24g which represents 22% Daily value. Vitamin B12 test results have been analyzed and confirmed by independent third-party laboratory Eurofins Craft Technologies.
RECOMMENDED DAILY ALLOWANCE
Currently, the FDA has set 2.4 micrograms as the recommended daily allowance of Vitamin B12. Testing was completed by a highly reputable laboratory that holds its ISO/ IEC 17025 certification.
