Database Designer and Developer

Primary Responsibilities: 

• Build database schema, tables, procedures and permissions incollaboration with a wide variety of internal teams
• Design database structure and reporting capabilities to support operations and licensees
• Administer database users and account privileges
• Evaluate and recommend new database technologies appropriate for R&D and/or for operations
• Establish and maintain development, integration, test, and production database environments across various databases
• Develop customer/operator procedures and documentation
• Analyze and sustain capacity and performance requirements
• Analyze, consolidate and tune database for optimal efficiency
• Monitor systems and platforms for availability
• Restore and recover corrupted databases
• Install and test upgrades and patches

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline
• 10 years of successful database design and development experience
• Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Access and a variety of other databases
• Experience working with differences between database structures (e.g. transaction based vs. data warehouse)
• Experience working with software packages or classes of packages within technical expertise
• Strong project planning and estimating skills related to area of expertise
• Strong interpersonal, technical, oral and written communication skills
• Must be a team player with ability to work collaboratively with a variety of departments
  • The incumbent will be expected to work with R&D, scientific and production experts rather than in isolation
• Must be a self-starter with a results-oriented and proactive work approach
• Ability to meet tight and multiple deadlines
• Familiarization with fundamental software development methodology
